FAQs

What exactly is a Burn Buddy?

A Burn Buddy is a handcrafted fire meditation pouch designed for a 15-minute transformation ritual. Each cotton pouch contains a beeswax cube embedded with colored salts, sacred herbs (bay leaf and sage), and comes with a 2x3" character meditation tag featuring one of the Seven Deadly Sins or Seven Heavenly Virtues.

How long does it burn?

10-15 minutes - the perfect length for a focused meditation session without feeling rushed or losing focus.

Why these specific herbs?

Bay Leaf represents manifestation, protection, and releasing what no longer serves you. It’s been used in purification rituals for centuries.

Sage is cleansing, grounding and helps set clear intention.

Plus, they both smell incredible when burning.

Are the materials natural?

Yes - natural beeswax, plant-based herbs, and 100% cotton canvas pouches and embroidery details. The salts are mineral salts, researched to be safe to burn in ventilated areas.

What kind of sand do I need?

We recommend professional-grade 100% silica sand - the same material used in fire pits and foundries. It has no dyes or additives, just pure functional safety. Our complete ritual kits include 4 oz of silica sand in a resealable kraft pouch.

If you're sourcing your own, make sure it's heat-safe sand (not play sand or craft sand).

How do I use a Burn Buddy?

  1. Set up near ventilation, such as an open window or intake vent

  2. Place 1/2 inch of sand in your fire-safe bowl

  3. Read your character card to understand the symbolism

  4. Hold the pouch and set your intention (what you're releasing or inviting)

  5. Place the pouch in the center of your sand-filled bowl

  6. Light the character tag to begin the ritual

  7. Meditate for 10-15 minutes as the flames consume the pouch

  8. Close with three deep breaths

Can children use Burn Buddies?

Adult supervision required. Not recommended for anyone under 18 without direct supervision due to open flame.

Why do I need sand in the bowl?

The sand layer is ESSENTIAL for three safety reasons:

  1. Protects ceramic bowls from thermal shock and cracking

  2. Distributes heat evenly, keeping bowl bottoms cooler

  3. Catches embers and ash safely

Never burn without the sand protection layer. It's not optional.

Is this safe to burn indoors?

Yes, when used properly. Always burn in a fire-safe bowl with 1/2 inch of sand for heat protection. Our safety method has been extensively tested - bowls stay cool enough that we placed them on plastic during testing with no melting or warping.

Safety requirements:

  • Fire-safe bowl (ceramic or metal, 4-6 inches)

  • 1/2 inch layer of sand in the bowl bottom

  • Open window for ventilation

  • Keep 12 inches clearance from flammables

  • Water nearby

  • Never leave burning materials unattended

  • Adult supervision required

Can I do multiple rituals in one session?

Yes! Many people do a paired ritual - release with a sin, then immediately invite with the corresponding virtue. For example: Wrath → Patience, or Greed → Charity. The transformation bundles are designed specifically for this practice.

What do I do with the ashes afterward?

  • Let them cool completely, then dispose of them respectfully

  • Scatter them outside as a symbolic release to the earth

  • Keep them briefly as a reminder of your transformation, then release when ready

There's no "right" way - follow your intuition.

Can I gift these?

Absolutely! Many customers buy transformation bundles as “helpful hints” for friends who need both the release and the cultivation.

How do I know which Burn Buddy I need?

Drawing of a cute red turtle with large eyes, sitting in the rain under a glowing halo, holding its knees, with a halo above its head, surrounded by rain and puddles.
A cartoon monster with horns and green eyes eating fried chicken in front of a large buffet table filled with various desserts and foods.
An animated red creature with horns standing with arms crossed beneath a lightning storm and rain.
A cartoon lion with a halo above its head, sitting cross-legged, holding a balanced scale. One side of the scale has a burning fire with smoke, and the other side has a peaceful scene with flowers and water, representing a balance between chaos and tranquility.

Ask yourself: What am I struggling with right now?

Feeling stuck or overwhelmed? -> Sloth (release paralysis) + Diligence (invite momentum)

Burning with rage? -> Wrath (release anger) + Patience (invite calm)

Never satisfied, always wanting more? -> Gluttony(release excess) + Temperance (invite balance)
